The Aliens...This was amazin...a gig that made the same kind of impression on me that great bands have done all my life (i am 40 so not easily moved these days!) brilliant songs, superb playing and a charming front man. with a wonderful feeling that it could all go wrong but it never does. this morning I am feeeling like the excited teenager that saw the stone roses and the mondays at a refectory in sheffield all those years age, thank you the aliens x |

Jay Lafferty - Offside RulesA pluck performance by that is Ms Laffetry and an enjoable show overall and great eye candy. She had the unique idea of giving the audience Fairy cakes to celebrate her first extended solo gig. Some clever material and good audience interaction, especially orgasmaplause- when a lucky male member of the audience gets to snuggle up to her in an attempt to get the audience clapping, when introducing the support act.The brilliant Mark Nelson came on for a breif 5 minutes, and the cinical material in his permormance had the audience baying for more. When Jay returned to the stage, her first half performance had been overahdowed by her support act. Nevertheless, it never undermined her attempts to meet the expectations of the audience, as she informed us of the 'offside rule' for girls, and the scary experience in the passenger seat of her friends car. "She hits more corners than Nakamura!". Some muted responses to some of her gags but quite a mixed crowd (a few groups of lads who may have turned up to stare at her rather than listen to her) and some who had seen her before. Definitley the ideal type of comedy for those on girly nights out, rather than lads out for a 'bit of blue'. Recommended. |

Paul Pirie - Hip Hip PirieI need to firstly outline, that i have not seen his 'Hip Hip Pirie' show, but i have seen Paul Pirie many a time. This guy is seriously funny. From compere to headline i've seen him tear the room apart. I'm suprised that TV haven't picked this guy up! |
